APRIL

2012

District Liaison  Meeting

04/18/2012

4:00 PM

District Office

Derek Prillaman, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent

CREA Exec Board:  Jennifer Whitesell, President; Jossette Threats, Vice-President; Ann Harris, Secretary;

                                      Sherry Antonetti, Treasurer; Molley Crist

Items discussed:

Pass/Fail Grading Procedures for Middle Schools

Inconsistency in end-of-year pass/fail grades at the three middle schools. Mr. Prillaman will look

      into this and advise.

District classroom volunteer policy

All schools adhere to the CRSD School Volunteer Policies/Regulations. Questions arose at one

school where teachers were told volunteers could only be in the classroom during the teachers’

planning time (not when students are present).  Mr. Prillaman will research and advise.

Loss of Instructional Time due to DCAS Testing

There is a loss of Tier 2 and 3 Special Ed, ESL, and Title I services for some students due to

extended time for testing.  Loss of services is a violation of some students’ IEP.  Is this a concern

for the district?  Mr. Prillaman will research and advise.

Highly Effective Teacher Ratings

Which score – instructional or accountability – are teacher ratings based? This is still to be

    determined by the state.

PLC Time

What paper trail will be necessary for verification?  Mr. Prillaman will advise.

Report Card Comments

There is not a district policy regarding an administrator changing a teacher’s comment(s) on a report

card, only grades.  In the absence of a policy, it is assumed that a change in comments can be made

if it’s in the best interest of the student.  Could the district create a policy for comments?

    Mr. Prillaman will advise.

Meeting adjourned at 5:40 pm

MARCH

2012

District Liaison  Meeting

Dr. Fitzgerald

Derek Prillaman, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent

CREA Exec Board:  Jennifer Whitesell, President; Jossette Threats, Vice-President; Ann Harris, Secretary;

Sherry Antonetti, Treasurer; Gary Duren, Molley Crist

Items discussed:

1.  PLC Time

DOE will support giving 50% of PLC time for clock hours. Twenty-six hours/year maximum.

District Office will provide principals with certificates at the end of the school year.  More details

     to follow.

2.  DCAS Testing

DOE gave districts the option of a fourth round of testing. Dr. Fitzgerald directed for CR. Will

test students who have 3s and 4s in an attempt to improve teachers’ ratings. For a teacher to be

rated as highly effective, the only way to demonstrate improvement of students is through testing.

Additionally, if a student has a 3 or 4, the parents can request their student opt out of the fourth test.

No student will be penalized for regression on last test.  Higher of the third or fourth test score

     will count.

3. Report Card Comments

What is the district policy regarding an administrator changing a teacher’s comment(s) on a report

card?  Dr. Fitzgerald will submit a response.

Meeting adjourned at 5:40 pm

District Liaison  Meeting                  02/08/2012

4:00 PM

District Office

Dr. Fitzgerald

CREA Exec Board:  Jennifer Whitesell, President; Jossette Threats, Vice-President; Ann Harris, Secretary;

Sherry Antonetti, Treasurer; Gary Duren, Molley Crist

Base funds were used for the mural.  Beautification project at Welch Elementary was approved by

Dr. Ada Carter and Brian Bassett.

     b. CRHS. Meeting will be scheduled with Mrs. Knight; should have been with Dr. Donovan

3. The Department of Defense picked up the option for contracts (Welch and DAFB Middle School)
